LGBT History Month was founded in 1994 by Missouri high school history teacher Rodney Wilson. The month-long celebration focuses on the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender history and the history of gay rights and related civil rights movements. LGBT+ History Month is annually held from October 1 - October 31.
LGBT History Month celebrates the achievements of 31 lesbian, gay, bisexual, or transgender Icons. Each day in October, a new LGBT Icon is featured with a video, bio, bibliography, downloadable images, and other resources.
