The Johnston Memorial Library building is open to the VSU Community with extra precautions, reduced staff, and limited hours. Face masks and social distancing will be required for students, faculty and staff.
Library Hours:
Monday – Thursday: 8:00 AM to 7:00 PM
Friday: 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM
Closed Saturday and Sunday
The Circulation Department will provide users with contact-free checkout of materials. Users who are unable to be present on campus are encouraged to use the online service tools such as refdesk@vsu.edu, Ask-A-Librarian, Text-A-Librarian and phone requests (804.524.5582) to communicate with librarians and receive assistance. Library instruction will be available virtually by reservation only. Please contact Darnell Law at dlaw@vsu.edu or by phone (804.524.5536) to make a reservation.
Out of an abundance of caution, the individual study rooms, group study rooms, conference rooms, basement computer lab and library stacks will be closed to users. Public computers will be available on the first and second floors of the library by reservation only.
While the Lindsay-Montague Hall building will remain closed; there will be limited access to the Special Collections & Archives materials and collections. Access will be restricted to VSU students, faculty and staff by appointment only on Tuesdays from 9:00 AM – 1:00 PM; and Thursdays from 1:00 PM – 4:00 PM. Reference and research assistance will continue to be available via the online service tools.
