Open Education Resources (OER)

Virginia Open Education Resources

VIVA Open! Explore our collection of Open Education Resources (OER) adopted, adapted, and/or created by faculty and higher education professionals at Virginia institutions. Join our network of educators committed to open education.

VCC (Virginia Community College System) Course Transfer. VCCS Transfer Course Mapping Hub provides a listing of OER selected and aligned specifically for VCCS transfer courses by librarians across the state. Since many of the transfer courses are high enrollment, general education courses,  the selected OER may also be useful to equivalent courses offered at 4-year institutions.

VIVA Course Redesign Grant Program focuses on reducing the costs of higher education for Virginia students by eliminating textbook costs. The purpose of the Course Redesign Grant Program is to acknowledge and provide support for the time and effort it takes faculty and professional staff to redesign courses using only open or no-cost materials, and to empower Virginia faculty to contribute to the growing field of open course materials. The VIVA Open Collaborations hub is where grant recipient cohorts gather to collaborate and deposit their open educational resources.
