The Johnston Memorial Library building is open to the VSU Community. Face masks and social distancing will be required for all students, faculty, staff and visitors.

Monday – Thursday: 8:00 AM to 9:00 PM
Friday: 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM
Saturday: 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM
Sunday: 3:00 PM to 9:00 PM
The Information Desk will provide users with contact-free checkout of materials. Users who are unable to be present on campus are encouraged to use the online service tools such as refdesk@vsu.edu, Ask-A-Librarian and phone requests (804.524.5582) to communicate with librarians and receive assistance. Library instruction will be available virtually by reservation only. Please contact Darnell Law at dlaw@vsu.edu or by phone (804.524.5536) to make a reservation.
Out of an abundance of caution, the conference rooms and basement computer lab will be closed to users. Public computers will be available on the first and second floors of the library by reservation only. A limited number of individual study rooms will be available by reservation.
While the Lindsay-Montague Hall building will remain closed; there will be limited access to the Special Collections & Archives materials and collections. Access will be restricted to VSU students, faculty and staff by appointment only on Monday - Friday. Reference and research assistance will continue to be available via the online service tools.
